The Alderney Society The Alderney Society is an Organisation dedicated to the historical, environmental, and scientific promotion of the Island of Alderney. Our Aims To encourage the scientific and cultural activities of the Island and to support projects associated with those aims. To preserve and record structures, sites and chattels of historical or scientific interest or artistic merit on the Island and to contribute to Alderney's assets in landscape, townscape, flora and fauna. To make representations to the States and the people of Alderney should the Island's way of life, character or natural heritage appear to be threatened by encroachment or despoilment. To encourage and assist the conservation of the environment. Our Organisation All the activities of The Society are carried out unpaid by members in their spare time. People in need of active retirement need look no further than Alderney. Members are encouraged to join the Society's sub-groups, the most active being The History and Archaeology and The Natural History Section. Various Society projects, such as the on-going excavation and restoration of an old watermill, are undertaken by volunteers who devote their time one day a week all year round and in all weather conditions. The Society also publishes an annual Bulletin containing reports of its activities and projects. Membership Individul Membership - £10.00

Research Group The Group's objectives include the listing of all known publications and research papers on Alderney, and continuing to undertake research in the Island. The Alderney-Guernsey Project includes the recording of objects and documents relating to Alderney which are housed elsewhere. Private
